The province of North Brabant

The game of limited space

Nowadays everybody wants a piece of our tiny country. Particularly the Province of North Brabant is considered a sweet spot for both business and living. Needless to say, we need to be – very - mindful about how we use our space. Lucky for us, our local governments already meet monthly to manage our limited space. The only thing is: it’s quite hard to explain. ‘Say no more!’ we said. ‘It’s time to simplify!’

Putting the cards on the table

Just like every other product of digital storytelling we design, we started out by scouting the information that was already available. By brainstorming with both internal and external stakeholders we discovered what defined our main concept: To keep a collaboration between multiple (local) governments operational they needed a set of clear rules.
In addition we learned that all parties are equal, and there are scheduled physical meetings - around a table. Ok, so there are players, a table, and there are rules – hmm - almost sounds like playing a game. Hurray! Our concept is born!

Everybody happy

After drafting the concept and contaminating our stakeholders with excitement (the safe kind) we were ready to write our storyline. Next, we connected Noortje Holdijk’s minimalistic illustration style with Tomas van der Aa’s isometric motion design skills, and invited them over to help out with the visual storytelling. They got exited too, as the concept was a near perfect match to their design skills. By listening, carefully planning the process and selecting the right people, we delivered a final product that was almost a direct hit. After a few small adjustments, everybody was happy.
